10 year old Imogen was born with both Global Developmental Delay and other intellectual disabilities, which impacted her ability to focus, interpret situations and socialise with others.
To complement Imogen’s existing therapies - which included speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and swimming – Imogen joined the Riding Programme at North Shore Group RDA
at the start of this year. She quickly bonded with RDA Horse Indy.
Imogen’s mother Nicola says that the change was dramatic and noticed by friends, family and the school.
“My daughter Imogen has finally found something she adores. It has changed her whole persona from a little girl with no confidence and huge frustration to a happy and more focussed child.
Time sequencing is a big problem for Imogen, and this gave her something to look forward to and helped with learning the days of week, morning afternoon, school holidays and more.
It was obvious that horse riding has made her happy and there was an instant change in her wellbeing. She is making friends, remembering names and gaining independence – thanks to RDA.”
