Young Adult Volunteers
Young adults are welcome as volunteers from either 14 or 16 years old, depending on the RDA group.
Volunteering for RDA can count towards the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme if you are working towards an Award.
Allyka Hanks – Tararua RDA
Allyka has volunteered with Tararua RDA since she was 14 years old. She always takes her volunteer responsibilities seriously including leading and side walking in the arena, shoveling poo, schooling the group’s horses and anything in between.
Allyka always demonstrates dedication, a positive attitude and a great work ethic. She absolutely embodies the spirit of volunteering and the principles of RDA.
Now at age 16, Allyka has just recently gained her NZQA Level 2 Certificate in Equine Skills and has a keen desire to remain at RDA as long as she can.
Aviva Mudge – Ōtorohanga RDA
RDA Volunteer Aviva is always happy to go the extra mile to help RDA, she often stays late after sessions to help care for the horses.
Aviva also enjoys assisting the group’s Equine Manager. She helps with the care of the horses, including their exercise and enrichment. When a new horse arrives, Aviva happily assists with settling them in and training them in the RDA way.
The group said that they felt very lucky to have Aviva as a volunteer.
