You can make a donation and get a tax refund

The tax year ends on 31st March each year and many donors like to make a donation before the end of the tax year.

You could claim back a third of your donation from the Inland Revenue. Make your gift by midnight 31 March to claim this year’s tax refund.

Inland Revenue have made improvements to their service.

There’s no need for you to complete a paper form this year because you can now claim donation tax credits online in a myIR account, Inland Revenue’s secure online service.

  • You’ll receive your refund much sooner.
  • Your receipts can be electronic receipts, or photos or scans of paper receipts.
  • Your receipts can be uploaded anytime during the year.

So getting your tax refund for your donations will be quicker and easier – which is great news for donors!

Did you know? You can submit a receipt for a donation at any time within 4 tax years of the date of the donation. Any credit you are due will apply to the tax year the donation was made, not the year you submitted the receipt.

More information is available on the Inland Revenue website.
